Before Microsoft Came to Be....

Like everyone else probably, I am considering other options to commute to work. Biking seems to be a very attractive option, since I only live like 5 miles away, but in this part of the country, you must pay attention to the hills. So, a coworker gave me a site basted on google maps that computes the elevation given a trajectory:

Tzatziki!

Living in Seattle, I often lack some of the Greek necessities, like kefalotiri (a dry, salty, concentrated cheese), Paximadia (dry, coarse-grained croutons) and tzatziki of course! Together with a fresh, cut tomato, this makes for a healthy snack, heck, I'd consider it a meal!

Here's a good one... forget about https, heck why even bother with server-side authentication when we've got JavaScript! How can you DARE access a secured site like that, that's hacking and it's illegal :p

Microsoft Interview Videos

Will code for free soda!

Awhile ago, Channel9, a MSDN blog posted some videos that demonstrate the interview process at Microsoft. These are pretty insightful for candidates since they give a sense of how the interview day's going to unfold. Since they're a little hard to find, I'm posting links to the three-part series.

So, here's the three-part series:

Your first steps at Microsoft!

The CAN-SPAM thing seems to be working pretty well!

A month ago I ordered a router from frys.com. Apparently, they think that providing my e-mail address to get order status info also means I want their "newsletter". There's a link to unsubscribe, which I've tried several times, but that never worked. So, I reply to the spam, telling em to remove me (the address is service@outpost.com so I figured somebody might reply. No reply. I reply to next weeks's newsletter, threatning legal action. Still yet no reply. This week, I forward the mail to spam@uce.gov and cc it to them. Haha! They replied this morning, apologizing, and saying they have removed me from the system!

I'm coming back!

Hey boys and girls :)

I'm coming back to Montreal for the holidays! Leaving December 17 and coming back home Christmas day.

Found a place!

Slowly but surely, I am settling down in Seattle. Although, it's not without some inconveniences. Some douche decided to offer himself an online shopping spree using my credit card. So, no credit card, no car rental, and I have to run to the ATM all the time. Then again, it's not a big deal but it greatly pisses me off.

Leaving for Seattle

It's now official, I booked the flight and all, I will be leaving for Seattle on the 26th. I've got my stuff all lined up on a table here ready to go. I really just have a few things to take care of around here, two weeks to do them, and that's it!

Upgrade!

I finally fixed up some things on my site, which will make it easier for visitors to comment but stop comment spam.

Before today, to post a comment, a visitor had to register as a user. The user would then be required approval (since comment spammers create dummy users to gain access and post). I wouldn't have time for this so that alone would take months, then finally the user could login and post.

Oops!

It has come to my attention that the site was down this pass week or so. This was due to my host disabling the entire site due to a blog that I was hosting receiving lots of comment spam and taking up lots of server resources.
